Abstract

The most important libraries with holdings on the Catalan language and literature in the German-speaking countries are listed and described in detail. These holdings contain 60,000 volumes in total. The richest is the Biblioteca Catalana in Frankfurt am Main with 15,000 volumes and 120 journals. In Hamburg, Berlin, Trier, Munich and Zurich there are 3,000 to 8,000 volumes each. Augsburg, Basel, Freiburg im Breisgau, Fribourg in Switzerland, Göttingen, Heidelberg, Regensburg and Tübingen each have stocks of between 1,000 and 3,000 volumes. In Bochum, Bonn, Cologne, Münster, Salzburg and Speyer, the holdings vary between 500 and 1,000 volumes. The problem that arises for Catalan Studies is that it is not expressly mentioned as a special subject by the DFG is shown. It is suggested that the Catalan studies stocks of other countries are also recorded quantitatively in further analogous essays.
