Abstract

The hitherto unpublished correspondence between Karl Vossler and Carles Ribas, which lasted from March 12, 1922 to December 26, 1931 –a total of 24 letters– is published here for the first time. This correspondence is a document of the academic life of that time in Germany and Catalonia; it showcases the attitudes of Riba and Vossler before the rise of fascism and provides information on the work and mutual influence of the correspondents. Riba's extensive reflections on the situation of the Catalan language and culture have lost none of their significance.
