The paper analyzes misogynist literature and its development in the 15th century, referring to the work L'Espill (1460) by Jaume Roig. First of all, it analyzes the criticism and satire directed at the physical appearance, painting a deformed image of female sexuality. Then, this image is interpreted in the context of bourgeois thinking, which is just beginning to take shape and –overcoming the doctrinal prejudices of the Middle Ages–outlines the place of women in the new urban society.
