Abstract

The article deals with the subject of tourism as a motive for literary creation between the years 1968 and 1980 in Mallorca. In this context, it speaks, on the one hand, of the tourist boom starting from the early 1960s as the key event in the history of contemporary Mallorca and, on the other hand, of the Mallorcan literary boom coming up around 1968. Thus, the aim of the article is to establish the relationships between the tourist phenomenon and the outbreak of the Mallorcan narrative between the years 1968 and 1980, a time when these two events coexisted in parallel in the Mallorcan universe. It turns out that the new generation of writers had several peculiarities common to all its members (born in the first half of the 1940s, self-taughts, of non-urban origin, etc.), making tourism the most interesting literary reference of their narrative production.
