Abstract

The conditions of researchers’ publishing activities impact markedly on their work. These conditions are not set arbitrarily by the people involved; rather, they result from the given context in which research is done. The present article focuses on the context set for research on first-language education (Deutschdidaktik) in German speaking regions. It discusses how this context shapes publishing according to four dimensions: (1) publishing on demand versus publishing on initiative, (2) internationality and interdisciplinarity, (3) peer review and quality monitoring, (4) plagiarism versus giving credit.
