Abstract

Summary: This article focuses on Valencian playwrights of the 21st century, specifically authors who appeared at the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, and who normally write plays for adults in the Catalan language. For this purpose, some typical characteristics of the Valencian theatrical context will be taken into account, such as the increasingly prominent presence of women playwrights, the creation of playwrights by their own companies, and the role of public theatre in the support and promotion of young writers. In addition, the work of Patrícia Pardo (b. Alaquàs, 1975), Juli Disla (b. Aldaia, 1976), and Xavier Puchades (b. València, 1973), as well as El pont flotant company (founded in València, 2000), four creative forces who have consolidated their careers during the second decade of this century, will be presented individually. Keywords: Contemporary Valencian theatre, Valencian playwrights, El pont flotant, Patrícia Pardo, Juli Disla, Xavier Puchades
