The article tries to develop and systematize identifying characteristics for the variants of 3rd person pronouns that are common in the colloquial Catalan of the country of València, using phonosyntactic rules (e.g., addition of epenthetic vowels) and functional morphological criteria (additional marking of case or gender; if necessary, neutralization of numerus). Some of the forms classified as interferences with Castilian seem to be motivated internally by the language and refer to spontaneous development tendencies of the spoken language, as they are also documented for the colloquial Catalan of Barcelona. For the speakers, they primarily result in a simplification of the complicated pronominalization rules of Catalan.
