Xavier Benguerel: Icària, Arcàdia

Abstract

Using an approach based in structuralist anthropology, this article examines aspects of the narrative work of Xavier Benguerel (Poblenou, 1909-1990), pointing to underlying deep structures, dialectics, symbols such as the textile metaphor or Icària/Arcàdia, and especially female character types in Benguerel's novels and stories.
