Anmerkungen zu einigen Vogelnamen in katalanischen Wörterbüchern

Abstract

It is uncommon for an ornithologist to be also a linguist, which is why he must rely on his informants when collecting the names of birds. If he has to work with inaccurate sheets or misunderstood informants, mistakes will be inevitable. This article points out inconsistencies in the names of birds found in different dictionaries, many of which have already been corrected, for example, in the most recent edition of the Diccionari de la Llengua Catalana edited by Enciclopèdia Catalana, but not, on the other hand, in the German-Catalan or Catalan-German bilingual dictionaries. I will especially treat the question of whether bitó can have different ornithological meanings.
