Abstract

Two individual exempla have survived in Ms. 49 of the monastery of Santes Creus, which cannot be assigned to any collection. In the exemplum S. Pichteri i la monja folla, a hermit visits a nun whose humility makes her highly virtuous, but who is marginalised in her monastery. The Catalan version and the Latin version from the Vitae Patrum are edited here; in the second exemplum, a virtuous virgin tells her story; two Catalan versions from Santes Creus and Sant Cugat and the Latin version are edited.
