Abstract

The various levels of discourse (educated / popular) in the sermons of St. Vicent Ferrer allow conclusions to be drawn about the composition of his audience and their intellectual prerequisites. The prevailing opinion up to now that his sermons were popular turns out to be untenable in this form, since many elements are demonstrably aimed at an educated audience.
