Abstract

The article outlines an on-going research project that aims to reconstruct the experiences that leading Marxist social democratic theorists made in the 19th and 20th century, when they tried to put "scientific socialism" into practice. It specifically discusses the challenges regarding the content, theory and methodology of the research project and it ponders its use of sources and development for hypotheses.
