The article argues against the common proposition that social history is badly divided from oral history and the history of mentality. Instead it points out numerous links between these disciplines and underlines the methodological and heuristic strengths of oral history which is particualarly evident, when historians focus on the independent dimension of subjective historical experiences in addition to the reconstruction of structures and general developments.Downloads
